We were proud to stand with organisations across the UK in support of ASB Awareness Week (ASBAW) 2025 earlier this month, and reflect on a productive week.

We held a series of estate walkabouts in neighbourhoods across 12 towns and villages in Cumbria and the north east, to take a stand against anti-social behaviour (ASB) and promote safer communities.

Now in its fifth year, ASBAW aims to encourage communities to take a stand against ASB and highlight the actions that can be taken by those experiencing it.

During a busy week, our Lettings & Neighbourhoods team were joined by other colleagues and partner agencies including local councils, local councillors, the police, and fire and rescue services.

Pounding the streets in all weathers we:

ü  chatted with over 240 residents face to face in Carlisle, Cockermouth, Cramlington, Harriston, Hetton-le-Hole, Kendal, Longframlington, Maryport, Penrith, Temple Sowerby, Washington, and Workington

ü  knocked on more than 700 other doors and delivered hundreds of leaflets

ü  supported residents by raising 20 new ASB cases

ü  provided residents who weren’t aware of the process with detailed information on how to report ASB

Anna Bates, Head of Housing at CCHA, said: “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and in their local community. ASB can really blight neighbourhoods, so I’m so pleased we were able to get out into our communities again alongside partners to tackle it hands on.

“ASB Awareness Week goes from strength to strength every year and I’m really pleased that we were able to chat with so many residents. It’s a great opportunity to engage with residents who may not otherwise make contact with us and make sure they know how to get in touch and what we can do to help, if they need us in the future.”
